Apostle Mike is known for his compassion for lost, hurting and broken people. He’s also known for his down-to-earth teaching style which meets people of all ages and backgrounds where they are with the message from God they need. He began in ministry with a weekly Bible study at the Winnebago County Jail (which continues to this day) and served at Rockford Reachout Jail Ministry and as the Chaplain of the County Jails in Winnebago and Stephenson County. He currently serves as Executive Director of Master Builder Jail Ministries and as Chaplain of the Stephenson County Jail.
Senior Pastors Michael & Susie Sowell founded Faith Center Freeport in June 2010. Their aim was to to establish a multi-cultural, Word centered church, where people can be equipped and empowered to build the Kingdom of God.
Mike and Susie have been married for 20 years and have a son, Micah. The Sowell’s are a very active and close family, regularly ministering at the Rockford Rescue Mission and a local nursing home. Susie is an entrepreneur and salon owner and enjoys singing, decorating, and cooking. Micah loves the Lord, basketball, Christian movies, and video games. He plans to attend Bible college and follow his parents into full-time ministry. Pastor Mike readily admits that he loves chicken wings but Susie watches his diet!

I’ve been an entrepreneur and forerunner in business and ministry for 49 years. I started the first Mount Carroll Aglow chapter. Then I went on the Northern IL area board of Aglow as Vice President of retreats. I advanced to the president of the area board overseeing 14 chapters. Then I became Aglow’s IL state prayer coordinator speaking at every chapter throughout Illinois. I was a part of an international prayer for business ministry. I received a wage from 6 ministries and businesses to pray for them. When I was at Faith Center Rockford, I became the State prayer coordinator with Apostle Lyon for 3 years. I also taught “Apostolic Authority in Prayer” for 3 years in their Apostolic school. I traveled with Apostle Mary Alice Islieb in ministry. I’ve started a city prayer breakfast in Freeport and I prayed at the city council for two years. I still pray with the mayor every Tuesday. I have pastored a house church 5 years. In the midst of this, I was a beautician for 19 years and had a bed and breakfast for 14 years.
In the love of Jesus,
Pastor Dixie Ditsworth
